Hi all.
I just got home from a local music store, while I was there, I started talking to the salesman about the new DTX-950 kit, he said that he had one in boxes in the back, I kept asking him if he's sure it a 950 and not a Xtreme III kit. He kept insisting it was a 950, when he mentioned the price of $6000.00 then I agreed it was a 950. LOL
So anyways, I was there to get a new drum throne since the Tama drum throne I bought a couple years ago is a total joke, bad design, a bolt broke on it sending me on my back (luckily, it's when my back faced a wall, so the wall helped break my fall) I've since replaced the one bolt but I see the other bolt is bent, so with my new drum layout, if a bolt breaks again, I'll be injured this time for sure. Needless to say, I've lost faith in Tama and this throne, I'm scared of using it now, and my small cheap Gibraltar throne has very little padding, so when sitting on it for a long time programming modules and such, it gets to literarily be a pain in the butt! LOL :D
I tried a few thrones while at the store, none of them had backrests, then Debbie spotted one partialy hidden and it had a backrest, we took it out and I sat on it for a bit, trying it out, making sure it was comfy and it was. So I bought a new higher end Gibraltar drum throne.
Also in the last couple of days, I've been busy building a shelf to house my spare 19 inch monitor and setting up Debbie's old computer so I can try this Steve Slate Drums EX thing.
I just took some pictures here are the descriptions......
new001 - My new Gibraltar drum throne
new002 - Throne again, different angle
new003 - Debbie's old computer, keyboard and mouse layout and Behringer mixer
new004 - Shelf unit and 19 inch monitor for the computer.
The computer setup and shelf are temporary, they are there so I can try out the Steven Slate Drums EX software (bought it at a seriously reduced price) and if I really like external drum sounds via midi (if I can even figure it out) then I'll buy a appropriate laptop to do the job, if not, I'll just give up on the idea of external sounds and still get that monster of a desktop and shelf out of there! LOL :)
Take care
