Hi,
I'm a newbie here but a long time digital drummer! I am in the process of building my first Edrum set. The pics I've seen on this forum are outstanding!
My plan thus far is to build mesh type pads with the cone sensors using some short stack drums I recently cut. I spoke to Linda over at Alternate Mode and asked about the new DITI interface. She said it should be available by the end of summer. She didn't have a lot of details but said it will be a USB device. Since I already have a Trapkat (recently updated to XL version) and have owned plenty of KAT products in the past I am planning on getting this interface once it is released. Any thoughts or details on this interface? Also, does anyone here have a source for the Roland cones? Seems very hard to find. My friend at Roland says they are not discontinued but are only available from the service dept?

I think there is a thread about the Diti, everyone is looking forward to it. I think I saw cones on sale at ebay that seem to be the same material and a bit cheaper. I have purchased cones and piezos from Roland and although their stuff dribbles to you it is the best quality. I like Pintech's foam cylinders also (bass trigger foam) I just have to turn down the gain and I like Pintech's piezo triggers as well with the quick disconnects. BTW Welcome to the forum!!!!! :) Tom

The DITI will be a great addition to any edrum setup... If your using KAT products you are fully aware of the reasons for having a solid controller set which is lacking in these pre packaged kit set ups offered by the big 3. Should be the perfect addition to the pads your building... There have been some delays and setbacks in getting these units into production. We can only hope its sooner then later... I have been promised a demo of the unit in its current form in the next week or so... I will keep you guys posted on any new info... Glad you made it here a good information source ....

Thanks for the welcomes guys. Although my Trapkat XL works well I am hoping to get a more realistic feel from the DITI and a DIY pad kit. I had a Roland TD8 kit previously that felt and responded well but the internal sounds were weak. I had to sell it a while back. Now that I have SDX2 it is a whole new ball game!
