Hi all.
I just finished tearing my kit apart kinda for the move. For those who don't know Debbie and I bought a house and are moving at the end of the month, we take possession tomorrow and will be moving stuff over to the house over the next 2 weeks. Since I had a free night tonight, I decided it was time to tear my kit apart and get it ready for transport to it's new home. For those who remember my large kits (Project WTF, WTF2 and Kit YamadabaDoozer) the rack I had made remained pretty much the same and is still the same rack to this day on my smaller kit.
Here's a picture of how I managed to fold it up to get it up the stairs and into the new place when it gets there, all cymbal stands, ball mounts, cables are still on the rack thus will be so much easier to setup later. :)
All I had to do was fold in a couple cymbal boom arms!
We're very much looking forward to getting the move over with.
I'll post pictures of the kit once I have it setup in it's new home which I call "The Dungeon" since it's a un-finished basement! LOL :)
Take care

Looks to be the trick for the rack system , and no doubt will make for an easier setting back up of the kit in its new home ( The dungeon , I like that ) Hopefully no-one will dressing up like egor' :D .
Moving usually has its share of delicate and harder to move pieces , but it looks like you got some pre planning done allready Jack . Congradulations on the new home and I'm looking forward to checking out some new pics once you get everything set back up .

Thanks for the kind words Sam.
Yes, in the time waiting for possession day, Debbie and I have had lots of time planing stuff all over the house. I have my work cut out for me, the house needs some minor repairs but lots of them so that will keep me busy till fall. But when I'm on days off and in the middle of the night when I can't make too much noise as not to wake up the neighborhood, I'll be in the basement setting up my drums and Sim racing setup! :)
I have to drill roughly 5 holes in the floor of the living room to the basement to run ethernet cables, TV cable (TV and Cable modem) and speaker wires for my home theater setup (don't want speaker wires on the floor). As for the drums, I'll set them up on a carpet on the cement floor. My biggest problem is lack of plug ins in the basement, I might run a couple extension cords (heavy duty) from an outlet we don't plan on using from the living room into the basement (6th hole in the living room floor LOL) until I finish the basement and get a electrician in to wire it.
All in all, Debbie and I are quite excited, now we know what our monthly payments will be for the next 10 years and never having to move again! w00p! LOL :)
Take care

yes, the joys of home ownership - Congrats. I got into a conversation with a past MA instructor, and we were talking about how to fix an electrical outlet / wiring issue in the workout space. He asked me if I was an electrician, and I replied, "No, I am a home owner." We laughed.
You will become an electrician, a plumber, a painter, a tiler, a dry-waller, and a handyman both annoyed and proud of your work.
Good luck on the dungeon. Insulated sub flooring is your best friend for acoustic noise dampening AND keeping your tootsies from freezing. Concrete is coooooooooold.

Thank you for the kind words and well wishes guys! :)
Ghostman, I Owned a house before (previous marriage) and I hear you on your comment of becoming a handy man real quick. I did do drywall, mudding, sanding, painting, plumbing, refinishing kitchen cabinets, and the list goes on. I will have to do some of the above in the new place with the addition of exterior stucco patching. The basement will have to stay as is for a couple years till I have the extra funds to get the materials to get it finished. Right now we are in the cleaning stage, will be doing small fixes over the next couple of weeks. As we clean, we're making notes of stuff that may need repair attention! :)
Take care

Hi Scott and thanks.
Debbie and I just spent all night at the new place, doing mostly cleaning, she worked on the greasy mess on top of the kitchen cupboards, I cleaned out the cobwebs and swept the floor in the basement to get it ready as a holding area as we start bringing stuff over to the house. We also got the curtains up in the front and back of the long dining/living room, took the bathtub faucet apart and went out and bought new cartridges and so far so good with those. Filled screw holes in the walls in the kitchen and living room with polyfilla, fixed the screen door's shock absorber thingy, it wasn't attached to the door frame. We were quite busy, and now we are paying the price, we both used muscles we've not used in a long long time! OHHHHH The pain! LOL :D
Drumslinger, GAS? Hmmm, if Drum GAS, I've not had that in a little over a year when I downsized my kit dramatically, The only things I bought drum wise since was a new Gibraltar hihat stand, a new Yamaha direct drive double bass pedal (thanks for the tip on that one Scott :) ) and a new Gibraltar throne with backrest. That's it.
I know, I can't believe it either. LOL :)
Take care

Congrats again to you and Deb on the new house, Jack. To use a phrase you coined I think your new house " slicker than goat cum on a door knob". That reminds me, clean those door knobs! Damn Canadian goats. Alvis :)

FYI:
Don't know how damp your basement is (becomes), but I would suggest a dehumidifier and a plastic film (dropcloth) under your drum rug, if your floor weeps moisture. Congrats to you and Debbie. Wes

Thanks Alvis, yep, doorknobs have been cleaned..... just in case! LOL :D
Wes, thanks for the tip, I will monitor the dampness of the basement over the next few months, so far seems okay though (keeping fingers crossed on this one).
Take care
