I was just going to add to my original thread from 2 years ago when I first displayed my kit, but it appears that has been deleted...hmmmm...maybe it was something weird with when the site switched over.
Anyway, it's been over a year since I started taking it apart to make some changes and updates. Why has it taken over a year...well...it's a long story involving a lot of frustration and other stuff that's not appropriate to get into.
So here's what it looked like 2 years ago:

The changes are:
Added Sea Shell Pearl wrap (Jammin' Sam)
Changed toms from (2) 12" and (2) 13" to (1) 8", (1) 10" and (2) 12"
Added rubber rim to bottoms of shells for a nicer finished look
Rerouted cabling to try to hide it better
Homemade 2-ply mesh heads on the 8" and 10"
(yes, I know that shouldn't have taken over a year...like I said, there was "other stuff" involved)

And here's what it looks like now:

My wife says it looks like the 70s threw up on my drums. Ron (Axe_Grinder) hates this wrap as well...personally, I love it. Honestly, I don't think the low resolution of these photos does it justice.

Yep, got the snare too:

Here are the 2 toms with the homemade heads:

The feel is way different from the very bouncy single-ply heads that I originally had. Verdict is still out...not sure how I feel about 'em yet.

So there it is...my kit finally updated. Still runnin' it through a TD-10 exp with a series of KR circuits to accommodate that many cymbals. We'll see what happens...that set up may be changing at some point as well. In the mean time...I'm tired. I haven't even gotten to play it yet! Maybe tomorrow...if my wife let's me. She doesn't like playin' second fiddle to the drumset! Now it's sleepy time.

The kit is looking great! :)
The wrap looks good and done very well, I'd have to agree with Ron, it's not my personal taste style wise but looks good all the same! :)
I like the layout of the kit, the one thing that strikes the eye though.... that really BRIGHT white front head on the kick drum, the thing sticks out like a sore thumb, your gonna have to put a spiffy graphic design on that to tone it down some! LOL :D
All in all, the kit is looking great, congrats on finally getting it done and I hope you are enjoying playing it.
Take care

I'm old school in some way's so I like the wrap,ya did a good job they look cool kinda retro, very pro, wondering why ya dropped the tom sizes, all of my toms are only 8" (so I could fit more junk in) I have 7 of 'em.
a year isn't really long I usually run out of money before I run out of ideas and if i rush I usually don't like the new config... cool, enjoy!!!

Thanks for the kind comments fellas.
Catapult...funny you mention that glaring kick head. Ron said the exact same thing. Originally, my thought was that the blank white would match the kind of retro look of the wraps...but with the rest of the kit, you're right, it does stand out. I wonder how much it would cost to get some kind of graphic on it. And how I'd go about getting that done. Any thoughts?
Fredster - thanks, I like the retro look too. I've always liked the pearl-style of wraps from the old kits...this one jumped out at me as being pretty original. What I thought kind of funny was that Jammin' Sam bought it from DW...he said they discontinued it because nobody wanted it! What the pics don't show is that there are actually tones of purple swirled within the design, if you get it in the right light. I dropped the size of the toms for a couple of reasons...mostly because I couldn't get a nice tight compact feel that I like with the higher toms both being 12". You can see in my original set up I had to have my high tom mounted up over my hhat...I just don't like it that way. The other reason is really just aesthetic...I prefer the look of it going from high to low toms the way an acoustic set would.
Now it's time for me to get back to playin' it instead of beatin' away on a practice pad!

Oh...and it's time for you to post pics of your kit too Fred! ;) :D
