Tom and Jack,

I purchase some foam (1" twin mattress topper) from wally world today and inserted two layers into the 12" Pintech kick. It does help rid a lot of the double-triggering, even more so when utilized with the Pintech mesh saver pad.

Looks good Wes.
I never had trouble with double triggering on the CKV-12, for me it was just that extreme amount of pedal bounce was driving me around the bend.
How's the bounce issue since your mod?
Take care

How does the pedal react now? did it reduce mesh head bounce for you?

I hope it is where you like it now Wes. T

Hmmmm, in my case the double-triggering was being caused by the excessive beater bounce. It has decreased with the foam in place.

Do the beaters get a better nights sleep ?

Silly, silly Bobby. "Beaters getting a better nights sleep".

However, my right foot feels rested today. Guess I should do the same thing for the left kick too - hahaha.

Here is what I did on my diy. Both of the triggers are mounted on top.

That was one thing that I noticed when I played on the Hart stuff at NAMM. Their kick drums are 12" and have a huge piece of foam in them, like 6x8" or so. The didn't have the rebound of the Pintech kicks, which to me is a good thing!!

Hi Brian.
Maybe Pintech should consider putting a piece of black foam in their kick drums, especially in the CKV-12 which I've seen many complaints about in the old Pintech forums.
It would be easy and cheap for them to do this, the CKV series already has a good sturdy back to th drum, would be just figuring out the size and thickness and then maybe the CKV would be a decent contender in the mesh head kick arena, as it sits now, the bounce of the CKV-12 is bordering stupid.
Take care

If you look at the interior pictures of the Drum Tech Kick pad you can see that they have foam strips seperating the reflexion plate and the rubber beater surface. It works with rubber pads also. A little foam will do ya. T ;D
