Here is stab one at a beta. Just plug a piezo pad into the line-in of you computer audio and start this program. (no need to install - just unzip and run)

When the program first comes up, it will ask you to select an audio device from a list. Select the line-in that you plugged your pad into.

Once running, you should be able to click the start button and it will count your strokes over the selected time period.

Please let me know if you run into any troubles.

This is an early beta and it won't remember any of your settings.

Michael.
You've come up with a great idea.
Would it be possible to add something to your software.
What I'm thinking of here is a pad sensitivity meter.
This would be a great way for those of us mixing and matching pads from various manufacturers to certain modules, it would also be quite useful for the DIY crowd.
Hit the pad, have two meters, one that keeps the last strike's level displayed for a few seconds, and one that keeps active with each strike.
This way you have time to note all the velocity levels when trying to trouble shoot matching Pad A with module B.
This would also be a good pad tester for when a pad is suspected of going bad.
Great idea Michael.
I'll try your software when I have some days off.
Thank you for writing this.
Take care

It would be easy to put in that kind of meter.
I will call it the Catapult Pad Meter!

HAHAHA, sounds good Michael.
I think that feature could come in pretty handy.
Take care

Very nice idea Michael :) Sounds as though it could be very useful for a lot of reasons.

Yeah, that'd be great so I can see about how to reduce cross talk within my pads that I am starting to re-build.

I am going to make some of my pads dual trigger (pad and rim) and since all of my pads are really similar to a 'remo practice pad conversion', I need to figure out how to isolate the pad trigger from the rim trigger, and having something that can show me various velocities would be extremely helpful. Although, I've never really tried it, can the piezo velocities register on a cheap $25 RadioShack special multimeter? Or are the voltages too low?

Thanks!

The voltages will register on a multimeter. It is just that they are so transient you might have a hard time getting anything useful. A piezo sprike is over quickly.
