Hey Tom, I've just dug out my AKit, LOL not opened the cases yet so still don't know what I'm going to find :)
I'm currently charging my camera batteries. When I take the bearing edge photos, do you want to see both the batter and the resonator edge. It's a metal snare so it will just really be the toms or do you want to see the bass drum as well ?
edit : here is the batter edge of one of my toms, I'll wait till you get back to me

Hi Bobby, They look great. Usually you want to check all the edges. Make sure they arent banged up and gouged. So far they look great. I like a 50/50 edge 45 degree but those look like a nice vintage edge. I would clean everything and change the heads and play them. Have fun, T

Thanks Tom, I've cleaned that tom and rebuilt it still with the old heads. I'll continue and slowly do the rest of the kit. I wont post any more photo's unless I find an edge I'm not too sure or happy with. LOL this may take some time :)

Bobby, just looking at the edge I can tell the set looks and sounds awesome. I love rosewood. I cant wait to hear it and see it. T

Thanks Tom, the heads are all a bit brittle so the sound my not be as good as it could/should be. The chrome work is a little pitted, but it is 33 years old and been left unattended for the past 7 years. So all things considered it isn't that bad :)
Edit : Two toms stripped cleaned and rebuilt

Man, I bet with some new heads they will sound sweeeeeeeeet, I cant wait to hear them. ;D
Keller should think about doing some specialty shells in Rosewood.
What type of heads are you going to go with on the toms Bobby?

Tom, I've not thought about heads yet. I don't know if you can make it out, I did use remo pinstripes on the top and black dots on the bottom...... heads and fashions have changed since then and I'm way out of touch

Hi Bobby.
Nice to see you taking out the A's and giving them a nice cleaning, those two toms look gorgeous.
I was also happy to hear that the drums survived sitting for so long, if all they need is new heads to be as good as new, that is way cool! :)
Those babies gotta bring back some good memories I hope, they are beautiful.
I know if I still had my black Pearl kit from my teen years, I'd take it out now and then and give it a hug! :)
I miss that kit!
Take care

I'm looking for advise on a snare head. The snare is not in great condition the chrome on the shell is in a pretty bad way. You can see it's mostly been cause by sweat because it's worse around the places you touch while playing, the snare leavers and the damper knob. Anyway this wont affect the sound much. So the head was obviously due for replacement when the kit was packed away. I used to use things like "Premier Everplay Extra Plus" on the snare. What is the current "industry standard" snare batter head..... I'm out of tune with the current favourites
