-just a side bar...and hint to what the name means...

Go to You Tube and search for "Thank you Masked Man"...animated clip by the late comedic genius Lenny Bruce... and listen closely to the dialog!

(Thanks for well wishes and allowing me to get a few cheap pops in for my band!)

Ryan,

I wish you and your band the best. Like Tom said "Wish I was there to chear you on"

Is there any chance of recording the show? (or a small portion of)

...there's very good chance of that actually. (AND GOOD IDEA!!! THANK YOU!)

My girlfriend has a nice digital camcorder (courtesy of yours truly) that needs to get used since it was purchased at Christmas and used exactly twice. ::)

I'll see if I can sexy it up a bit first though...will probably be just a very "camcorder" sound and recording...

I just thought of something...this lounge is the EDrummers Gigs lounge...so even though you're not the one playing, will these be edrums?! hmmmmmmm?!!

And so far it sounds like Ryan's the only one with a gig...the rest of us are hobbyists I guess! :D

Would be cool to hear of someone getting a chance to rock out w/edrums at a gig...I mean someone here on this board.

...welll....

It may not be an "edrum" gig... maybe just a "eDrumforum members" gig.. lol.

Our new drummer said he'd prefer to play his acoustics at the gig...may change his mind..but at this point...it's just a regular old rock and roll show.

-He's being converted though... ;D

Its Ryan's gig so he has to define it. He is an edrummer that is singing so we are in uncharted territory. As long as one our members is in the band then is great and I want to hear about it. If I am close to it I will attend also. ;D

The goal is at some point to do a Godsmack type drum battle in the middle of the set. (who does drum battles anymore???)

-our bassist is a Primus fanatic so hopefully when everyone is walking off stage for a break, we're going linger. He and I are planning to play "Shake Hands with Beef" as a 2 piece... not holding my breath on that one though.

Holy **** that was fun!!!

I never thought in a million years I'd have that much fun on stage and NOT be playing my drums!!!

I also didn't realize how different the after show converstions were..... instead of 3-5 guys saying "dude...nice set..." "Why aren't you playing real drums" etc...

...it was chicks... lots of them....trying to help me "relax"... and I nearly let them... LOL

...and as luck would have it...my tripod broke right before the show while I was setting it up...so no video. WHICH SUCKS!!! Everyone in the band felt it was our best show to date. My first gig singing and we blew the roof off the joint. (We even got a bonus... from the OWNER of the joint... :o that's never happened to this here band before. LOL)

good for you! posts like yours make me miss those days. there's nothing like that feeling when you're looking out at the audience and they're all having a great time because of you (well, you and a bunch of liquor! ;) ).

lots of chicks....so jealous. I mean, don't get me wrong...I love my wife...but let's be honest...every one of us has to be a little jealous of that!

BTW, what kind of music was this? Metal? (just assuming so from your Anthrax obsession)

Actually we have a pretty good mix of tunes. (but of course...we play caught in a mosh.. not til 3rd set when everybody is bailing out though)

Our first set was

Jet -Cold Hard *****
Against Me -Thrash Unreal (That is a ***** to sing let me tell you!)
Green Day -Holiday
The Todaies -Possom Kingdom
Cheap Trick -Surrender
*Ballroom Radar Love medley* mash up that mixes Sweet's Ballroom Blitz/Golden Earring's Radar Love/Soft Cell's Tainted love (it's about 13 minutes long)
Black Sabbath -Paranoid
White Zombie -Thunderkiss '65
Stray Cats -Stray Cat Strut

-Like I said...a very diverse mix...that's only the first set! We try to balance everything so if we play a metal tune, there' an alternative 90's tune or current charting tune etc right after it. -Seems to keep everyone drinking and singing.

I'm still super PO'ed about the video.... We have 0.00 footage of that show.

Next time I'm going to go over my gear with a fine tooth comb (like when I play drums) prior to the show!

-Thanks for all the support!! Need a band to play some where...?? We work for beer and women.. but money is accepted too.;D

Everything sounds great, love the wide variety (The Toadies! NICE!!!).

But I have to ask.....Unskinny Bop? Seriously?!?!!
I can only assume (and really hope) that you guys play around with that it's really funny...or something?

It used to be part of a "Poison Bookend medley" that we did. We used to do "Talk dirty to me" - into Blondie's "One way or another" into Rush's "Working Man" and cap it off with "Unskinny Bop."

-for some reason we dropped the medley and kept Unskinny bop. It made sense when we did it and now I can't remember why.....

We started doing Unskinny and feed into Joe ****er's version of "Help from my friends"...The vocals blended very very well believe it or not...but was pretty ... how shall I put this... "BORING".

I like that song but never ever ever want to play something that plodding or slow...unless I can get my hands on a about 20 quadludes. -LOL

I actually met Big & Rich, but I have never heard them. They were onboard the last Cruise I was on. I guess they writing new material and playing some acoustice sets. Seemed like nice fella's.
