Hi, my name is James and I am an eDrummer.

I started drumming just after high school, and had a few lessons, but I wouldn't call them formal. I mostly learned rudiments from a book, and from learning songs. I did have the benefit of having a few friends to play with so we played cover tunes. Along the way, I met my soon to be new band mate, and I was in a band. It was a weird thing, it was an electronic band, and the drums were normally on DAT for his shows, and he was interested in adding a live element. So, I basically replaced a drum machine. I got out of acoustics for this band, for two reasons; One, I was going to live in an apartment so I needed a quiet set, and Two, there were tons of sounds that weren't acoustical sounding in the songs. Each song pretty much had a different set of sounds. Anyway, time went on, we parted ways, and I was left to drum by myself and kinda lost interest.

The drum kit pics are posted on the forum, and that was build #1, a huge cage with 16 pads, 2 crashes, 1 ride, and hats - all cymbals were acoustic, but there were some 'hat' noises in some songs that I used.. The sound source was an EMAX sampling keyboard, and I used a Roland PM-16. In those days, PM stood for Pad-to-MIDI, not Personal Monitor. :P It's so old, it's not even on Roland's site anymore under 'legacy'. I posted a picture of one on Overlords Wiki..

After we parted ways, I took advantage of the time, and re-designed the kit to fit in a more reasonable space, and came up with build #2 (again, pics are posted on the site).

Fast forward 15 years - here I am (I am 37 now)! I sold the EMAX, and a friend gave me his KORG keyboard with a few broken keys, and I was back up and running, except to find out 7 of my 16 inputs were bad. Arrgh. I bought another PM-16 on EBAY, and then sold both of them to get money for a new module. I couldn't afford anything real nice right away, so I got an Alesis IO, and I am pretty happy with it. I also got some Pintech ecymbals, and those are pretty cool.

Next steps are 1) finish room where drums will live.. 2) save / sell stuff to buy Yammie DTXIII or maybe even the 2box module.. I've been reading a lot on that as of late.

Anyway, I like metal, punk, rock, industrial, and alternative. Oh, and Weird Al. I love double bass and a drop clutch on my hi-hat, but I am gonna have to figure something out for eHats..

Anyway, in my normal long-winded style, that's about me. See you on the forums!
