I'm first in the RMC thread-woo hoo!
Ok so... I'm dealing with some hearing issues...and I need to get an IEM system BADLY. (Wireless mic too...but that will be later.)
-Need a recommendation. This is for gigging. Would prefer something that has dB reduction or noise cancellation so I don't incur futher damage from extremly loud moinitors/stadning right in front of the drums. I will be getting custom/semi custom ear pieces made for it too.
Is the Shure-PSM700...really worth all that money...???

If I can chime in... If all you need is a wireless IEM then just get a P2T Wireless Transmixer (http://www.shure.com/ProAudio/Products/PersonalMonitorSystems/us_pro_P2T_content) and a P2R hybrid Bodypack receiver (http://www.shure.com/ProAudio/Products/PersonalMonitorSystems/us_pro_P2R_content), and an earphone of your choice. I myself am looking for what earphone to buy soon and is left with either Shure SE530PTH(530 with a push-to-hear accessory) or Westone UM2. I really really don't have any reason to go for anything beyond P2T system. There are things called mixers for that lol.

I currently use a PSM 600 system with M-Audio IE-30 headphones.
I am probably going to be getting a few of the new Audio Technica M3 systems soon.
Unless you are playing large halls and theaters, you probably don't something as beefy as the PSM700.
Almost all IEMs have noise reduction. It's like sticking Hearos in your ears with a small tube in the middle for your audio. In fact, you have a hard time hearing any ambient sounds. The M3 has a small mic jack in the receiver so you can blend in some abienece.
If I could afford it - I would definitely get the custom molded Westone earphones. A good fitting set is the most important part of the setup.

Hey guys,
Sorry for the delayed response...it's been a little busy. Evil1, you wouldn't need any of the higher end systems unless you're planning on working with multiple wireless systems or dealing with a lot of interference issues in your environment. If you just need to send a signal from point A to point B without much complexity, you'd be fine with a PSM-200 or PSM-400. Of course the earbuds improve the higher you move up in the systems, but that's also easily upgradeable by yourself. Michael is definitely right that you're going to get a pretty fair amount of isolation out of any earbud you use.
I'd also take a look at the Audio-Technica M2 and M3 systems as Michael mentioned...that ambience input really caught my eye when I first heard about them (as well as the really nice price points). If you've got any more questions or I left something out, just ask or give me a call!

Actually I do!
As far as the earbuds....those are universal so to speak right? It doesn't matter waht bodypack I get as long as the adapter (plug) fits from the earbuds...it will push them right?
If that's the case I'll get the 400 and buy some super badass earbuds.
-Here's another concern....Will a wirless guitar rig and a wireless mic interfere with any of the aformentioned systems?

Generally, the systems will be in different frequency bands. A good system will allow you to also change frequencies to avoid interference.

Hey Ryan,
Yeah, you can pretty much use any pair of earbuds you want with a system. As for your other 2 wireless systems, they shouldn't be much of a problem at all. Chances are they operate in a different band anway, and even if they don't a PSM-400 gives you enough flexibility to operate alongside them.

Ok I've made my decision. Since the girlfriend is fronting the cash as a birthday present (which was yesterday)...
I want the psm400 "system". P4 transmitter and corresponding bodypack, I'll buy the headphones and earmolds separately.
;D ;D ;D
