Hi all.
On Thursday, Debbie and I went looking around a car lot, I ended up buying a new car.
I've had many used cars since I started driving in my teens, I've only had one new car, it was a 1985 Honda Civic.
So I figured after 23 years of driving beaters since the last new car, it was time to go for it since it's my last chance before retirement. :)
I bought a 2008 Chevy Cobalt LT, 5 speed with added value package, the thing has all the options I wanted and then some.
So far it's great on gas and it's not broken in yet. It has a pretty decent ride for a lower end car and seems to handle well (I've not pushed it yet, taking it easy during break in) :)
So here's my new baby, I hope it's as reliable as my last car (1992 Plymouth Acclaim, I had it for the last 4 years)

Sweet car Jack, really looks nice. Go have it blessed before you break it in maybe that will give you extra luck with it. ;D

Thanks Tom.
I think Mother Nature has already blessed it, half hour after I got it home and those pictures were taken, it rained, and it's been raining each day just enough for it not to be nice and clean. It's this thing between Mother Nature and me, I wash car, she dirties it, Mother Nature has a hate on for me! LOL :D
I have to bring it in on Wednesday, I purchased a 4 way package which includes 1) Undercoating, 2) Rustproofing, 3) Fabric protection and 4) Paint glaze.
I also have to get a few minor new car hiccups looked at, the two 12 volt sockets (cigarette lighter type sockets) are disabled, probably not connected or a missing fuse, The trunk lid needs to be slammed shut (adjustment) and the spare tire holding bolt in the trunk is too long and punctured a hole in the trunk carpeting.
So far, the car is a lot of fun to drive, I've put a little over 300 km's on it and am still on the original tank of gas from the dealer.
My back is a little sore as it always is for the first few weeks of owning a different car, just a matter of getting used to the seats, they are comfortable though!
With any luck, this new car will last me well into retirement, I intend on looking after it as the owners manual suggests by doing the scheduled maintenance religiously since I took the extended warranty and should be major repair free for 6 years!
Being a 5 speed, I'm having more fun driving it and am much more alert while driving since I'm more involved in the driving process having to change gears!
Take care
