Okay...so it's not live...and probably won't turn into anything live...but I have the possibility/opportunity to possibly play on some studio recordings. One of the manufacturer reps that got some "sample" parts for my KRaper Circuit box (not yet built, but working on it) is a guitarist and composer, apparently in the same style/genre as Di Miola and McLoughlin. While dropping off some parts for me he mentioned that he was excited about a recording project that he was ready to begin with a bassist and keyboardist but didn't have a drummer. Well, of course I have to plug myself a little considering that's the style of music that has influenced my playing. So he's planning on laying down some of his ideas and seeing what I can throw down. I'm actually quite excited about it. In all of my years of playing I haven't met anyone that wants to play that style and actually has the ability to do it...so it'll be a very fresh and exciting project!
We'll see what comes about...keep your fingers crossed though!

Good luck. Sounds like fun.
I once got to see DiMiola, McLoughlin, Paco DeLucia and Steve Morse play together. It was incredible.

David, Good luck with that, it sounds interesting. I love big band and verious jazz fusion type of music and never get to play live in that genre. Unless you count the Tom Knipe orchestra but that only exists in my pc. So enjoy whatever you get a chance to try and dont forget to post some clips when your done. We like to listen to our friends music. Good Luck, Tom

Very cool brother!
Shoot a link to the tracks when you lay them down so we can listen!

Thanks guys...I have my hopes up for it, but I have to be honest - I tend to be a little skeptical because it seems like every time I get excited about something like this, one thing or another goes screwy and brings stuff to a halt. So I don't want to get my hopes all up only to have them smashed down. Probably not the best attitude to have. :-[
I'm certainly not scared of auditioning and then being told "no"...that's the nature of the biz. I'm nervous that it just won't happen, that the guy will suddenly have one thing or another come up that will push this recording project of his to the side. He's an older guy (well, older than me...in his 50s)...so I don't think he's flakey. But I certainly understand that at this stage in his life he may have other priorities. But he did seem very excited about it and said it's something he's wanted to do for a long time...so we'll see.
But yes, absolutely, if this does pan out like I hope, I will most certainly get some of the tunes posted! I'd be very excited to have everyone hear it (assuming I don't suck in a big way! gotta get practicing!).
In the mean time I need to get the damn KRaper circuits built and working so I can use all of my cymbals! AAArrrgh!
