View Full Version : Zendrum compatability?

I am interested in triggering the DTXT3 from my Zendrum and have a few questions. I suppose it would be possible to set up a closed hi-hat, half-open hi-hat (shorter decay) and open hi-hat sounds and map it to 3 different MIDI note numbers? That way I can set up 3 different triggers on the Zen for hi-hat playing.

Then there's the question of velocity layered user samples. I read the manual and it seems like the stack/layer functionality requires that you assign each sample in the stack/layer to a separate MIDI note number. That may not be a big deal if you use triggers pads plugged into the module, but how is that going to work if you want to trigger the multi-sampled drum via MIDI with the Zen, where a single drum on the Zen only uses a single MIDI note number? If I understand this correctly, this is simply not possible via MIDI on a single note number. Their internal sounds must be structured differently because they are multi-sampled sounds and you can trigger those with a single MIDI note number...

Anyway if someone could use a MIDI keyboard or another drum module to trigger the DTXT3 via MIDI to test and confirm the hi-hat thing and the multi-sample user sounds thing, I would really appreciate it ALOT!

Thanks.

Wow...that's a serious question.
I'd love to be able to help but did you hear that "whoosh" sound just now?
That was the sound of everything going WAY over my head. ???
Sorry dude...hope someone here is able to help you out.

That is a good question, I have the module you speak of. I will look further into this but like you said I am not holding out hope for multivelocity layering. But the high hat triggering sounds possible and probable. Thanks, T

Thanks Tom, anything you can try out would help me make up my mind. I really like the internal sounds and all other features on the module. Even if I can only assign a single sample to a pad, it may still be worth it...
