I joined this forum today. It will be nice to get some other opinions on things. I have been on the v-drums.com forum for a while.
I bought a TD-3 about a year and a half ago. I am in the process of replacing everything. I just need a couple more cymbals and a new rack.
I've tried playing guitar for years but only got so far with it. I decided to try the drums and they seem like my natural instrument. I probably should have been drumming all along. I remember a photo of me when I was about 4 with a string around my neck tied to a Lincoln Log can for a drum with a couple of twigs for sticks.
I'm just noodling along on my own, play along with the iPod. I've watched a couple videos from the library, watched a little bit of You Tube and also have a couple of books. My work schedule/hours make lessons a bit difficult.

Hi and welcome aboard Michael.
I had tried bass guitar when I was a teen but drums were the thing for me so I ditched the bass! :)
Enjoy the forums! :)
Take care

thanks for the welcome Jack.
I always played rhythm guitar when I played with friends. I moved to bass and then got the Rolands.
My wife (poor lady having to listen to my playing) thinks I sound the best on the drums.
Hopefully I'll learn a few things from the group or be able to chime in about something now and again.

Ghostman,
with gas prices noow, it seems to make it farther...
I've driven through the Portland area but never checked it out. My wife LOVES the Oregon coast....Newport especially.
Did you ever see the Everyday Prophets? They're from your neck of the woods. We saw them last summer. Their drummer uses e-drums.
I'm just about ready to order the "final" cymbals. I'm pondering which size size and 2 versus 3 way triggering for the ride cymbal. I see you have the 18" ride. I got my 14" crash Wednesday.
I'll also need to get a hi-hat stand. What kind do you use? I'm sure some work better than others.
Thanks !

Yeah, I work at home, so I seem to spend more on gas for my riding mower than my cars... We just don't drive a whole lot.
I haven't seen that band, I'll have to look for them.
I got the 18" ride, and I love it. The reason I got the dual zone, is because my module supports dual zone, not 3 zone. and my single zone choke cymbals.. good enough for me for now..
I have a Tama hat stand that I bought in the days of my acoustical playing.. it's probably 15 years old, but looks new, and works great - even after a year or so of once-a-month gigging. I also have Tama cymbal stands.. I really like that hardware.. Although, I am going to sell the stands and my acoustic cymbals soon..

Ghostman,
I decided to go with the 18" 3 zone ride.
I ordered the Pintech hi-hats too. I ordered a rack today too. I'll soon have completed the upgrade.
I'll look at the Tama hi-hat stand. I have a Tama pedal and have been happy with it.

the 18" is certainly the way to go for the ride. I have the 3-zone but only use 2 for now. Using up another input just to get the edge off my ride isn't worth it to me. I'd rather have another crash/splash/china/whatever than just adding the edge to my ride. But we'll see what the future holds. Perhaps a 2nd module. But that's far down the line.
Enjoy your new stuff!

I keep looking for boxes when I get home from work....
For now, I won't be adding anything so using the input for the ride edge won't be an issue....who knows about later on. I think I'll like the 18" ride, the ride and crash are the same size on the TD-3...
we'll see how all this new stuff works out.....
