Okay...so with my other thread about the settings/parameters not being saved, I was advised that the battery must be on its way down. Roland, of course, tells us that it is not user serviceable and needs to be done by them or an approved Roland service center...this will probably cost a little less than $100. After I *****ed about it a little, Ghostman said that he had changed his battery in his Korg himself rather than sending it in...so I did a little searching (didn't take much) to look into changing my TD-10's battery myself.
Sure enough I found a thread in another forum from a few years back that said it was easy to do. So I decided to chance it...

So there are 8 screws to remove in order get the back/underside off...cool...that's easy, I can even handle that. Once those are out and the plate removed, here's what it looks like:

Look at the bottom right corner...there it is. The battery is a basic, standard CR2032 type and it's not soldered in or anything like that. It's simply spring loaded and it comes out extremely easily.

Now, the thing is, I've been told that replacing the battery basically does the same as a factory reset and that means losing all user data...so my VEx kits. I did read somewhere that people recommended leaving the unit plugged in, so I did. Well, while leaving it plugged in probably puts you in some amount of danger, and probably leaves the unit vulnerable to static charges, I did it anyway...and I didn't lose my VEx kits!!! woo hoo! Fired 'er back up and there are all my kits!

So there it is. There really wasn't a need for me to send it to Roland.

Let's make it clear - I take absolutely no responsibility for anything that anyone does to their own modules...this was something I chose to do to my own module and decided to document it.

Oh...and just FYI, two CR2032 batteries cost $7 and it took approximately 1/2 hour...that includes the time it took to drive to Walgreens to pick up new batteries! ;)

Yay!! good to hear, I am glad.. it took me about an hour for the Korg, but then I think that I had 3 times the number of screws to remove.

God job, and that was sorta gutsy to leave it plugged in while you did it!!
