I'm curious if anyone has used this at all.

"Snare Mesh Saver

We use an adhesive by 3M to help keep this canvas like material adhered to our Evans mesh heads. The snare mesh saver is designed to reduce the "bounce" normally associated with mesh heads. They also reduce the wear on the mesh head.

Especially handy for those traditional acoustic drummers who go through their acoustic heads regularly, just imagine the damage you would do to mesh heads."

Now, I'm not a banger myself so I'm not too concerned with going through heads too quickly...but the one thing I don't like with mesh heads is the unnatural bounce/rebound. It's not a big deal on the toms, but I definitely notice it on my snare. I'd be very curious to know if this makes a positive difference in the feel...and how it affects positional sensing.

also if it adds to the acoustical noise..

The one thing I noticed with my Pintech AX14 (14 inch chrome snare) is by putting a Roland 2 ply mesh head on it, it has a better feel, not as much bounce as a Pintech single ply mesh head and it also lessens the center hotspot of the Pintechs also.
The Roland mesh heads are a little noisier acoustically though since you can hear the 2 plies rubbing against each other.
As for wear, the Pintech mesh heads might be thin, but they are long lasting unless you abuse them, I've had my Pintech toms for well over 2 years and they still have the original Pintech mesh heads with no sign of wear yet.
Take care

I don't like the mesh saver pad at all! It does add a little more noise to the pad and it kills rebound.
