Hi all, I am getting the hang of this internet forum stuff...well kinda anyway. I have spent some time at vdrums.com and have put together a kit for our church. I have some other drum projects going that I'll talk about soon. at the moment I am getting around to building a mini acoustic to e-kit for me to practice on so that I can be up to speed when the praise band gets together. I will be posting pics of the mini kit conversion in an album under my user name racer52. Just about everything I am doing came from one website or another. About the only thing I feel that I actually thought of was building a dual triggered Remo practice pad. Now, I am sure that someone has already done this..just I haven't read about it. So for the time being, I am feeling pretty good that it works. I need to dismantle it and then I'll post how that was done. One of the easiest e-drum conversions so far for me. Any way, wanted to say hi and let you know that I will be poking around here.

Hi Racer52 and welcome to this place.
Nice conversion using a CB Drums kit, I was thinking of doing the same thing a couple years ago, and decided not to, maybe I should have! LOL :)
Good luck and enjoy the converted kit! :)
Take care

Hello,
Seriously, I bought my 4 year old that same kit, and it is built really well
Believe it or not that 16 inch kick sounds really good, so much that i have been browsing Craigslist to find a Pearl Floor Tom that i can convert to a kick drum using a jungle jig.

Welcome to the forum and very nice kit. :)
@ Fig, Spurs work too. Well, unless you are talking acoustic. Then I could see why you would want to lift it for the pedal to be centered.

Nice conversion.. I am looking to do some 16" bass drums for a-to-e conversion.. Tom is probably going to be involved. No hints until I have pictures!
I am a frequenter of Craigslist to look for good deals on used acoustics to convert..

Thank you all. Yeah, last year my wife and I... I mean.. Santa brought our grandson a mini Ludwig kit very similar. I was surprised at how well both of these kits sound! I almost wanted to keep it as an acoustic set...naaaah I'll find out how well it does as an e-kit. The snare tension rods go from rim to rim. all the rims are rather lightweight - I have not mounted the mesh heads yet. Last night I mounted the Remo pad on the center cymbal stand. It fits in a nice spot but it moves/wobbles rather easily. I may need to brace that and might also need some rubber isolation from the bass so as not to trigger the rim piezo..not there yet. Looks promissing and it s mainly for practice.
The bass drum sounded good with my full sized pedal - even striking off center. I think I'l let that be. I think that the the e-bass should be fine with out needing to worry about center head playing. The 2 tom mounts stay put while playing so that is not going to be a problem I swapped out the tom mounts for some taller ones from a full sized kit - they are in a good position for me. I may need to weld some extensions to the floor tom legs - not sure if I like it's height yet - I have already swapped out the original legs for a set that I had from a full sized kit.
