I was out riding my bicycle when I found this NIB PCY-10 that somehow made it past the WildWes hoard. Now what to do with it. I really miss having a HH bell. I plan to see if it will fit on the HH 135 clutch. I think if I set set it to the HH closed alternate group it just might work properly. If not it will be a splash.

I scour the world for these 24/7 Alvis and I'm thinking government conspiracy or aliens are part of how your PCY-10 got by me.

It would feel so much better if it was in my box with the rest of the litter - hahahahahahaha

Hmmmm, a box of PCY-10? Those little sweethearts aren't doing much good sitting in a box, are you trying to make them multiply by having a PCY-10 commune? LOL
The Hippy PCY-10 flower power, power to the people, free love..... yeah yeah, whatever! :D
LOL :)
Take care

Hey Wes, Those won last long on ebay if you plan on selling them, I almost had one a while back but it slipped through my fingers. Since I still have my 2s I am always looking for those, I should try to DIY something like that, hmmmmmm, scurrying away to drawing board. lol

Its like a PCY10 corral, lol

Well, My PCy-10 HH bell idea works great!! It mounted easily on the clutch. The rotation stop even aligns properly. I set input 11 to the HH Open alternate group and the bell voice chokes with the open HH when I close it. No problems with cross talk at all. I never knew how much I used the HH bell until I started playing E drums. Of course it can be set to any voice I like for cowbell, woodblock, etc. It looks a little funky but it sure is fun. Alvis

It chokes? Oh yeah, it looks cool there too Alvis.

Thanks Wes,
I have a little more tweaking to do but it works pretty darn good right now. You should try it. It`s not like you have a shortage of PCY-10`s. hahaha

Here you go ALVIS!!!!!! What trigger do you have yours set to? Mine's currently on RHH-135, but I tried PCY-130s/130 too. Where did you go to the HH alternate group for the choking affect? WW

Looking good Wes. Don`t worry about the trigger type. I think I set mine to PCY-130. Anyway, to make it choke go to Voice > SF4 other > Hit the pcy-10 and set the alternate group to HHOpen on that screen. It will choke then. It will sound if you hit it again even with the HH closed though. I`m still woking on that part. Might not be any way around it. Let me know if works for you and how you like it.

Yes, that worked for me when I followed your instructions (like always-lol). However, I've decided to set mine up with a loop that cut's off and on with alternating strikes (like your previous instructions-lol). You do good work Alvis. Excellent selection as a moderator. WW

Glad you like it Wes. EDF covers all makes and models so it takes a lot people to make it work. I`ll do what I can for the Yamaha end though.

Hi all.
I got a early 50th birthday gift in the mail yesterday, I was quite happy and very thankful since it's something I have been wanting for quite some time. WildWes sent me one of his very rare PCY-10 cymbals so I too will mess with the idea of having a HiHat bell, I think I'll connect mine to the 2nd module (DTXpress IV)'s hihat port and use my HH-65 as a controler, so the hihat bow and edge will be on the Xtreme III with usual hihat stand pedal and bell will be on a different module and pedal thus getting full use from the PCY-10 bell! :)
Wes, thank you so very much for this, it was unexpected and greatly appreciated! :)

Oh yeah, here it is on my freshly cleaned HH-135 :)

Congradulations Jack !! I always felt the keeper of the PCY-10 was a kind and generous person and this gester proves it. Like the teacher says " Wes, did you bring a PCY-10 for everybody? " haha. Maybe he will send me a PCY-155 in exchange for my older 150s. In fact I`m positive he will. It`s good to have friends like Wes. I don`t have a prize for your birthday so i`ll give some info from my brain about the HH bell. UH OH. If you don`t like the second HH controller you can split the HH 135 controller with a stereo splitter.( one male end to each module controller input). The splitter has to be a 1 female to 2 male type. Plug the PCY-10 into the pad input on IV. Then the edge, bow, and bell will work from the same controller. Very realistic.
Happy Birthday, Alvis

That was very kind of Wes :) Congratulations Jack

One question... what is the deal with these things? Is it just the rarity or something else that gets you guys all hepped up? You're worse than me on coffee with these things :D

I need answers - lol

"One question... what is the deal with these things?"
Ron,,,,,,,it's a Yamaha thang. You Roland owners just wouldn't understand how we covet these tiny single-zone, positional sensoring triggers - hahahahaha

"Maybe he will send me a PCY-155 in exchange for my older 150s."
Hehehehehe, it went out Monday morning Alvis.

Just sending out some PCY-10 love, one country at a time Jack. You earned it with all the help you give new (and experienced) e-drummers.

Alvis, I had thought of that and figured that maybe it wouldn't work, so I went with the HH-65, I might try your idea though, that would be way cool.

Ron, the PCY-10 haven't been made for years, so they are quite rare, they are so small and cute but it's like having a collector's item. The original purpose for these small cymbals was on the original DTXtreme, it has pie shaped cymbals and you would put the PCY-10 on top of the pie shaped cymbal to acts as a cymbal bell. This was before Yamaha came out with 3 zone cymbals. :)

Wes, thank you, I love this little cymbal. The helping part, I try when I can, we all have our level of expertise, mine is more hardware based, Alvis is the guru regarding the various module settings, and tweaking! :)

Take care

C'mon Jack! You know these puppies (PCY-10) really sing when you run the Vex kits thru them - hahahahaha

Hey Jack and Wes,
How are your HH bells working for you. I have mine running through my IIs module sharing the RHH-135 controller. I applied all of my tweaking powers to and it`s working like a dream. ( Believe it or not ) hehe. Open and closed bell voices, The pitch change when you apply extra pressure from the RHH-135 even works. Just wondering if you got it working the way you want it too.

Hi Alvis.
I just went and got a stereo Y-adapter (headphone splitter) tonight, I tried it and yep it works, I had to mess with the Xpress IV's FCoffset, I turned off footsplash on the IV and set the closed hat chick sound to 10 volume on the IV otherwise I was getting two foot chick sounds. So far, it seems to work pretty decent off the RHH135 controller! :)
All I did for a bell sound is up the pitch of the regular hihat sound, I might try a actualy cymbal bell when I have time to mess with it! :)
Take care

Sounds like you have it working pretty well. I turned the volume to zero on the IIs foot chick also Aswell as the FC offset. . I have a cymbal bell assigned to it. tuned up. I found I would get the open bell, then closed bell. If I applied a little more pressure I would get the closed hat sound again. I fixed that by assigning the same bell voice to closed hat note# and then manually turn down the decay to make it a closed bell with different pitch from the other closed bell. I`m happy with those settings. Later.

Thanks Alvis,,,,,,,,,,,,ehhhhhh my bells are working just fine? I see my doctor this month for my bells next check-up. Cross your fingers and cough - hahahahahahaha

I received a "Thank You" package in the mail today from Calgary and it contains a Rush "Snakes and Arrows Live" DVD. Just like a Canadian to send me a Canadian product - lol!

Thank you Jack, but it wasn't necessary, you really shouldn't have, I can't accept this from you and your never, ever getting it back - lol!

Really Jack you shouldn't have, but I appreciate the thought and gift. Happy upcoming birthday. Wes

Jack is a good man. Yes indeed.
Riddle, What is small, round, has a hole in the middle, and is fun to play with?
PCY-10? Yes but that`s not it.
Inflateable doll head? Not that either.
Rush DVD? Yes that`s it!!
Enjoy Wes

Just watched "De Stagwerker" (NP's solo on the dvd). and I must say Jack, I'm dissappointed. NP can't even play the same beat with all four limbs? What's that about? I mean even Ringo and Charlie Watts could pull off a simple 4x4 beat. NP has his right hand, left hand, right foot and left foot playing different time signatures, at the same friggin time! I don't even want to think about what NP is doing with his other appendage, but I'm sure it's rigged-up to something :-O Freakin annoying how some drummers just muddle through a song and make that kinda of money. I crack me up.

Can't believe how good he is,,,,,,,,,,,, and Neil Peart too. Hahahahahahaha Thanks Jack.

Well, I'll go with the doll, especially if she's made or recyclable tires and her name is Michelin! LOL :D

Wes, was my pleasure, I really appreciated the gift and I figured you might enjoy this concert! :)
Yeah, for a rock drummer, Neil is pretty good, that's probably why he earned the nickname "The professor" since he can do all these weird and complex time signatures. I've always enjoyed what he comes up with during his drum solos, there's always something in there for everyone! :)
Take care
