Hey Folks,
Here are a few pics of the kit as promised. I broke her down yesterday to try and make her smaller to fit the room better.
I haven't put any of the cymbals back yet.
I'll do more pics after I do.
-Axe-
Edited: I was told, I should put slingerland heads on the bass drums. So I did, in PS anyway plus a few other ps tweaks - lol

Thanks Kevin. It only took since March to build. - LOL
Would of been easier to buy an acoustic kit and convert it. Live and you learn I guess.
Thanks again :)

- That's a lot of chrome Ron (my way of saying pretty-lol)
- No wonder you need two modules (I know your pain)
- What type of hoops (darker than the front ones) are on the kick beater sides?
- Nice trick pedals - wish I had those (maybe next x-mas :-)
- Looks like you've got enough room in the office now for playing that miggy kit-hahaha
- Post some more photos once you get the cymbals on (especially the triggers).
Well executed - Wes

Thanks Tom, S:C and last but not least, Wes. :)
@ Wes - The hoops closest to the playing side are black metal. I'm still waiting for the chrome ones, Tom - lol - He's getting even for the board taking so long. I ordered a spare kidney from him and he told me he would have it in two days... but, for me there was the customary 10 month waiting period :D

Excellent looking Kit Ron.
Is that the same kit that was partially red when you started?
Nice bit of work on that puppy! :)
Take care

Jack, Parts of it are. I ended up buying more drums as I found fault with the cheaper pearl stuff. It's basically a modified Slingerland at this point. I just took the long way around.
All Toms have been cut down from their former power state.
All holes filled, and I mean all
Bearing edges cut
leaving cylinders - lol
All cylinders - painted with oil for protection and to eliminate the ugly holes that were filled.
Everything drilled for new lugs, mounting hardware and spurs and jacks and......etc..
Wrapped in chrome
Assembled :)
Like I said, long way around. I should of just bought a kit I liked the first time around. I probably would of gotten away cheaper too. Although I like being able to say I did everything on her. Did I mention she sounds awesome acoustically too :D I put some mylar on her just to see before I added the electronics.
Thanks for the feedback Guys :)

I hear you Ron. Buy the drums already finished and add triggers/mesh heads. Will save lots of time and maybe some money, depending on whether you already have the drums or come upon a great deal. WW

It reassures me to see I'm not the only one with odd looking cymbal arms.. Not that I'm saying Ron your's looks that way :) !
Thing's always look so better with someone else's lol
When I first attached the aquarian springs on the tilter of my cymbal arms it made it look weirdly long. And it made the adjusting of the cymbals a little hard to do, since a little adjustment now made a huge change..
So I drilled a hole where the tilter fits through all the way just below to the spring and now it doesn't look that weirdly long.. it's still a little long though...
Plus when I bought the aquarians I had to drill a hole for the screw to touch the tilter properly, the plastic coat blocked where the screw is supposed to go through. This was the case for all 5 of them.
Just curious, am I the only one who thinks they make the cymbals look weird and who also did some drill work on them? I admit they actually drive me a little paranoid... lol
But they sure do save the cymbals from any damages then normal tilters...
Sorry this turned out to be a rant :D

Ron,
What do you use the small tom next to the floor toms for (what sound)?
Can you show some photos of how the cymbals are triggered (bottom shots)?

hmmm, maybe I've grown used to looking at cymbals with Aquarian springs on them.

I know what you're talking about. I've just never let it bother me that much. - LOL - Where's Tom when I need him. I want him to know I'm not the only one little things like that bother - haha
Just curious, am I the only one who thinks they make the cymbals look weird and who also did some drill work on them?
I doubt it. I've never done "drill work" on them. - I can't speak for anyone else though
I admit they actually drive me a little paranoid...
"Paranoid" Let's focus on that word for a moment........ hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I wonder what Dr. Sigmund Freud would have to say about that... Aquarian Spring Envy, Maybe... you're mother wouldn't let you play with a slinky as a child causing this odd Aquarian Spring obsession. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :D
But they sure do save the cymbals from any damages then normal tilters...
A piece of elongated plastic does the same thing. It just won’t stop them from spinning
Sorry this turned out to be a rant
Rants are good. I don't remember why.... But, I think they're good. We've evaded another random act of Aquarian spring Violence.
Ron.....

Thanks Jack Coming from you that means a lot. I just wish you weren't stopping project wtf-2. I can understand downsizing. Heck, I need to down size. Which makes me wonder why I'm taking the time to set things up. In all seriousness though. I won’t be keeping her. Man, I am in love though. Just not enough room as you can see from the pictures.
What do you use the small tom next to the floor toms for (what sound)?
Hey Wes,
I didn't have room to use it as my first tom without re-arranging the kit. I wanted an aux snare anyway... So I slapped her off to the side. It worked out pretty well actually as there really isn't enough room for a 10 or 12".
Can you show some photos of how the cymbals are triggered (bottom shots)?
I would be more than happy to, Wes. I need to wire her back up today. However once that’s done I'll take some under-shots. I plan to do a part listing as well as a full tutorial in the DIY section.
Well, you have managed to catch me in a moment of clarity... You see, as the day goes on that clarity diminishes and I slowly loose IQ points. By 12 to 1am I have probably lost an equivalency of 50 points making me a babbling idiot. Hell, by 2am you can start to hear dueling banjos as I speak. You would probably swear I drank a pint of liquor. Needless to say I don't drink. Hell, I would be afraid to drink. I can't afford to lose any brain cells. Couple that with my obsessive and chronic coffee drinking throughout the day and you have one hell of an interesting time. Wes and Jack can vouch for that.
Hey, Kevin... Now that's a rant :p :D
Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

In hindsight... As I scroll my post.... I probably should of divided this into more than one post. For some odd reason I have the song "This is the Song (post) that never ends" going through my head. LOL

That is BEE-EE-UUTE-EE-FUL !!
I guess I have been out of touch with the drum market for too long. I thought it was an acoustic kit conversion.
I have seen the internet pics of Tom's natural wood finish and loved them - very much an artist. Glad to hear that Tom is not a starving artist.
Take good care of her, Ron. I know that you are enjoying playing that kit.
The Slingerland heads are 'right on'

Quick notes...nobody has mentioned anything about the cymbals that he maimed to make this...is it because everyone is already aware and it's a worn out subject? Or did people not notice?!
And don't we all really just want to see the flaming skull behind that kit?! Come on Axe...where's the freakin' video?!

I think it's a topic they don't want to touch on - lol
Not even plugged back in yet - lol
Got sick after I took it apart and haven't had the energy to cable her back up.

Per request of Wes.
Here is a bottom and top closeup with not photoshops. Sorry Jack :)
They look weird in the pics... all that light tape tone isn't on them in the really, real world... The flash really brought that out.
