Hi, just purchased a DTXtreme 3.
Can I pick your brains please? I am requesting help with editing: I need to change the gain and sensativity of the hi-hat edge, how do I accomplish this from switching on? I also need to do this with the second crash cymbal and kick. The toms I find are just fine :)
Thanks for your help

I'm not all that familiar with the DTXtremeIII. However, I will take a look at the paramaters.
Have you considered even subtly cracking the owners manual? - Just curious... :D

If you look on page 108 in that blue book that came with the kit. It's not just packing material :D
on your module.
Press Trigger
Select F1-F4 for the paramater you want
Use (inc/yes) and (dec/no) to adjust the paramater value
After you have edited the paramater select enter/store then yes.
Hope this helps :)

Hi Runedog,
What you need to do is create a User trigger setup.
Here is how.
1. Press the Trigger button > F3 SENS button to disply the trigger sensitivity screen.
2. Make your adjustments in this screen. See Trigger Sensitivity Settings P. 109-110 in the manual explains what the settings do. Or just play with them and see what they do.
3.Once you have made your changes store them to a user trigger number. P. 108.
4. Press Utility > SF4 Startup > set the TriggerNo the the one you stored your changes to. USR 1-5. Store the Utility change. This step tells the module to call up your user trigger setup at startup.
I hope this helps some, Alvis
One more tip, If after you adjust the KP-125 sensitivity it starts to double trigger go to trigger > F4 Reject and increase the Reject Time until it stops. I have mine set to 60ms.

Bless you guys: I am registered blind, although I do have sight :) so I find those little diagrams in the manual hard to read. Your step-by-step guides are really appreciated, thanks chaps.

This is why Tom wants to pay Alvis the big bucks :D
Seriously though... Thanks Alvis. Yet again, your knowledge of the Yammi modules is undeniable. :)

Hi
Can I ask a couple more questions: First, I am looking for a crisp, dry (sounds like a cooking oil I know :) ) snare without ringing, how would I achieve this?
Next, if I want to play midifiles, do these have to be in the root directory of the USB pendrive or can you access other directories?
Thanks as always for your input.

Hi Graham, It`s me again. hehe
For the snare pick the snare from the onboard snares that is closest to what you want and then treat it like it was an acoustic snare. Yep, I said acoustic.
1. Tune it to the pitch you want. Voice > Out-Tune > Tuning.
2. For some crispness increase the "Q". Voice > EQ-Tone > Left to page 2 > Q
3. For too much ring dampen the voice. The easiest way to dampen a voice is to decrease the decay. Voice > EQ-Tone > Page 2 > -Decay.
4. I have a tip for good rim shots too. Voice > F5 Pad > SF4 Trigger > strike the rim and set " TrigLink " to " Head ". This lets you hit and sound the rim and head voices together for a more realistic rim shot.
I don`t play MIDI files on the module but I know they have to be " Type 0 " and put on the root of the USB. I think Jack or Tom could tell you more about that.
Happy drumming, Alvis

You are more than welcome Graham. I hope some of that helps. Oh, Don`t foget you can adjust your stainer tension with the pad controller on the TP-120. Alvis

For midi songs, I look for midi songs I like and open them in my Sonar Home Studio 6xl, once I open them I save as: then use the drop down menus to show midi format 0. I then simplify the file name (Much easier in the three than the 2s with naming restrictions. Then I add them to the root directory of the usb drive. Later tonight I will attach a screenshot of my usb drive.
Graham, I have not ignored your emails but I have a little research to do before answering. Tom
The midi files sound good on the xtreme 3, I like to run the through a softsynth on the sonar and then make drumless tracks to play with. The ediro soft synth was my staple for years, now I use Garritan as a replacer. Good Luck, T:)

Hi Tom
Many thanks Tom and thanks for the heads-up regarding the email, we appreciate that.
Actually, not too sure how to load-up midifiles, where would I find this in the manual or could you kindly explain here? My acoustic drumming days were so much easier BUT not so much fun :):)

Can I ask some more questions on this midifile thing:
Does the USB pendrive have to be inserted before boot-up of the module? The reason I ask is, because my Sandisk USB drive allowed me to use the update and re-flash the O/S but it says the pendrive is not connected when I try to open midifiles from the root directory?
Also, do I stipulate 'Alldata' when choosing filetype?
Thanks guys as always.

I just had to try this. Yes the module goes through a sequence " connecting USB device " at startup so have it inserted before turning on the module. I put a type 0 midi file on the root and it played fine. No need to go into file mode at all. To play the file just press " song" and jog right past the user songs to the EXT. songs 1 thu 99. Play it from there and mute the drums etc. just like a preset song.
Have fun, Alvis

Hi
Tried Alvis's way of loading/playing midifiles and it doesn't work for me? The USB-stick is recognised at startup but when I scroll round to usersongs, nothing is there? Does anyone think I have the wrong type of midis, if so, what software can I get to convert these?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Runedog.
To get to the midi songs on the USB stick......
Press the song button, then use your jog wheel and spin that baby, fist you have to get by the Pre songs (preset songs), then the USR songs (User songs) and then you'll get to the EXT songs (External songs), here's where the songs on your USB stick will start showing up.
Enjoy.
Take care
