Hi.

I just started to play drums about 3 months ago and due to neighboors and a small apartment i had to buy a electronic kit.
I made the mistake and didn't invest good money or do better research and ended up with a DD 502 MKII drumset of Ebay.
Now to my Problem, i hate the sound of the drumkit, the cymbals and the kick pad are c*** .
So i changed the kick pad to a KD-8 already and now i wanted to change the module to get a whole different sound of the thing, after that i wanted to change the cymbals to better one.
So which module and other parts do you thing would be a better way to go?
Or should i just sell the whole thing and buy a new one?

Thanks for your help and please excuse my grammar i am from Germany and just live here for a while due to work:)

I think the easiest thing would be to just sell the whole thing. If you are not satisfied with any of the kit, then why keep it?

As for which module and drum kit is right for you, well, you are the only one who can answer that.

Here are some questions that you could ask you self:
Are you the consumer type or more of a DIY type of person?
A consumer type person would want a complete plug-and-play kit, where the DIY type would get bits and bops from here and there, and then put it all together in a very personalized drum kit. Some even build their own drums and modules, let's call them über nerds. ;)

Do you want mesh heads or rubber pads?

Do you want a stand alone module that does everything, or one that connects to a computer?

Do you need any special features, such as groove check or practice programs?

I would also recommend that you go to a local music store and try some kits out. That will give you an idea of what is possible.
Then when you know what type of kit and module you want, go research other brands! The store will most likely only have Yamaha, Roland, and Medeli (the brand that you own), and maybe an Alesis kit. In my opinion, there are other brands out there with a better price/quality ratio, at least if you are looking for mesh heads...
