Hello eDf,

I was looking at my manual for my Xplorer, and I noticed something interesting. Looking in the "Create your own original drum kit" section, I see this:

5ride: Pad input for Trigger Input Jack 5
5rideE: Edge switch input for Trigger Input Jack 5

Will this allow me to set the voice for hitting the edge of the cymbal as a crash and the bow of the cymbal as a ride, or is the edge switch input only for choking the cymbal? Please help me. Thanks!

Coby

Hi Coby....
The DTXplorer is capable of handling 2 zone pads (stereo) on Port #5 (ride) and port #6 (crash) but the standard pie shaped cymbals included with the DTXplorer kit are PCY-65 cymbals which are single zone. You would need some PCY-65s cymbal(s) to take advantage of the bow and edge triggers, the PCY-65s can also be choked.
With PCY-65s cymbals, the preset kits will automatically set sounds to the edges and when using user kits, you'd be able to set whatever sound from the module to those extra triggers, in this case being the edges. :)
You can get new PCY-65s at RMC Audio for their price of $55.00 US each which is a good price and other online retailers sell them as well, or look them up on eBay or any used goods website.
Take care

Thanks Jack! Just the info I needed. I was actually planning on upgrading to the PCY135 or the PCY155, but they should be fine, right?

Hi Coby.
Yes, the PCY-135 and 155 will do fine but understand you will only be able to use 2 of the 3 zones of each of those cymbals, more than likely the bow and edge will work, the bell will not.
Take care

I've been wondering about that myself too. Hopefully I will have that setting. Thanks again!

LOL, man, you're fast......
I just checked the PDF manual I have for the DTXplorer.....
It looks like the only place you would have that rim reversal feature is on the snare port a (3 zone port), looks like the cymbal ports will NOT allow that. I edited my message and took that part out but you had read it before I did. LOL :)
Sorry for the wrong info.
Take care

Oh, lol. That's okay. Thanks for fixing it though.

I'm actually looking for anything that says if the input in the KP65 is capable of a 2 zone or a 3 zone. Unfortunately I can't seem to find it. I gotta look harder. Hopefully it turns out as a 3 zone so I can use all the parts of the cymbal.

The Kick port is a splittable port.
This means that port can handle two single zone pads, at the front of the KP-65, there's a "input", you can plug in a single zone pad there and it will work.
The only 3 zone port on the DTXplorer is the snare port.
So if you were to get the PCY-135 and 155 you mentioned, you could use one of your PCY-65 in the "input" of the KP-65 and use that as a bell, just mount your PCY-65 close to your ride cymbal (PCY-155) :)
Take care
