Hello eDf,
I wanted to record my DTXplorer through my computer. I was wondering how I would accomplish this. I need to know what program I can use. The DTXplorer cannot map the MIDI notes, I'm not sure if this needs to be known or not, just putting it out there just in case. Please let me know of any programs you use that are great. I use both Mac and PC, but prefer the Mac more. Both are fine though.
Coby
Also, will I be able to assign drum sounds on the computer while I record?

Sorry for double posting, but is the program "Addictive Drums" what I'm looking for?

Hey Coby, Not sure what you are wanting to do...AD is a drum software program that will replace the current drum sounds coming out of your module with much better/more realistic sounds....you still would use your module, but I believe what you play on your kit (i.e., trigger signals coming from each pad) would pass thru the module and into a computer that would have AD loaded on it...you would then select your drum kits from AD (via computer) and make any necessary changes in the program there.
If you are just wanting to record your drum performance on your current kit/module, I pretty sure the xplorer has the ability to record within the module...at least I know the xtreme III does...you might want to check/read your manual and look for the section on this...:)

I actually wanted to mainly use the sounds through AD. I went and bought Cubase 4, since AD would need to run through it anyways. I need to go buy a USB-MIDI cable for it to work. I looked through the MIDI settings, and it looks like they have some of the MIDI settings already for some drums. I can't seem to find the Xplorer since they don't list it as DTXplorer. It's all in numbers and letters. Does anyone here use Cubase and can help me?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the designated code for the DTXplorer is the dtxpl, I could be wrong though, this is a generic name, not sure if AD or any other VST's are using those designated abbreviations since I don't do midi.
Take care

I tried using Audacity to record my drums using the headphones out, and it worked. The only problem is I don't like the sounds that come out of the module. Is there another way to get different sounds not in the module?

First off, recording from the headphone jack is not the greatest thing to do since the sound and impedance is probably nowhere as good as recording from the main outputs at the back of the module, the left and right 1/4 inch jacks.
What you need is a cable that has two 1/4 inch mono male plugs at one end and a stereo 1/8 inch male plug at the other, this way you can plug your recording computer (blue port on most computer) in the aux in port (not mic in) and the sound from the 1/4 inch outputs in the back of your module should have a better quality sound than doing this from the headphone jack, worth a try! :)
Also, if you don't like the stock sounds from the module, try learning how to modify those sounds to make them sound better, Yamaha modules are well known to require tweaking to get sounds you like, they have great preset sounds, but those are just the building blocks to creating great sounds! :)
Take care

Oh okay. I'll go look around for one. If there is none, would a Y-splitter with two 1/4 monos and 1 1/8 stereo work if I already have the 1/8 stereo cable?
I didn't know about tweaking my sounds. Thanks! I hope I can make the sounds I want.
