Greetings all.
For those of you who have been to my edrum website, well, a few changes have been done a week ago, the changes are mostly cosmetic.
I've deleted the Pintech/Yamaha logo backgrounds which have been replaced with a rusty metal grid of sorts, I've gotten rid of company logos that were in the titles of any pages that displayed these. I've also changed the WebLinks pages on both the DTXtress 5s and WTF sites, I deleted a few links and added a few others, EDF being at the top. :)
My reasoning for the corporate logo removals, first off, anyone that knows me will know how I feel about Pintech right about now so that covers that one........
As far as Yamaha is concerned, maybe it's my way of showing my displeasure with them at my coming up with a solution to their rubber wear problem on their new kick pad (KP-125) by suggesting they should add a Evans EQ patch with any kick drum sold, since I proved (with pictures) that a bass drum patch help prevent the problem to a great extent, well, I found out, they are now including a bassdrum patch with any new KP-125, that's way cool for the new buyers and I'm happy for them, but would it have killed the big mighty Yamaha to write an official letter of thanks for MY idea?????
I'm kinda choked about that, a simple thank you, I guess that's asking for too much! SHEEEESH!
As far as my idea, I'm very happy it has helped many out there to get the most out of their equipment the same as when I came up with the idea for a quieter RHH-130, it was for the users of that piece of equipment.
I don't come up with many ideas but when I do, and they work, I like sharing my ideas with everyone so they too can get the most from their expensive toys, but when a huge corporation can't even say thank you for making their flawed equipment better, that really ticks me off!
Rant over..... continuing with our regularly scheduled programming! LOL :)
Anyone not knowing about my site, it's about how I built my 3 first large edrum kits, detailed pictures and descriptions of how I did certain things, the main reason for this site was to show off the building of my kits in the hopes it might give others ideas on how they can setup their stuff as well, HAHAHA, some of my ideas had even been called "scaffolding" due to my radical rack ideas! LOL :)
I will eventually put my YamaDabbaDoozer kit and my current kit on the website, but since it is time consuming, it may take a while.
Oh yeah, the link is http://members.shaw.ca/catapult.of/
Take care

Nice site Jack!
With that much Yamaha gear I would have thought you had an endorsment with them.:D

Seriously, your site looks great. I would love to have a kit that big, but it would just be too much to haul around to gigs.:(

Hi Phil.
Thanks for the kind words about the kits on the site, I still have one big kit to eventually post on the site and then coming back to earth, post my current kit, in July, I seriously downsized my kit to something more on the ordinary side.
Agreed, I wouldn't want to gig those big kits, would take about 2 hours to tear down and about 2 days to put up! LOL :)
Even with my current kit, I don't think I'd want to tear it apart and put it back together for gigs, if I played live, it would be a acoustic kit for me, I have this phobia about electronics failing when you need them the most! LOL.
With a acoustic kit, I hit something, it makes noise, no worries. Plus they look a lot better than eDrums! LOL :D
As you can tell, if my living arrangements were different, I'd have a acoustic kit, not a eKit, edrums to me are a direct replacement for acoustics, call it a old fart trying to relive some of his youth! LOL :)
Take care

I think we've all known for awhile Jack that no one at corporate Yamaha gives a damn about your efforts to keep the forum and monthly songfest, current and interesting.

Tis a shame, but something simple as a thank you, bass patch, t-shirt, hat, etc... could have been an inexpensive way of showing their appreciation for your efforts. I believe it's time for a "dead goats flying somewhere" moment. WW

The site looks awesome, thanks for the link too. I understand how you feel, it is always nice to be thanked for something you do, so I will thank you for your awesome website and for being my friend and certainly not least making edf a better place.

I know for a fact that everyone I have spoken to from Yamaha think the world of you **** every person in the edrumming community that knows you likes you too. Your what I was talking about when i talk about community, every person you help every day I am sure cant possibly express the gratitude for what you put into the community of e drums.

If there is ever a e drum hall of fame (And someday there might be) you will be a first ballot hall of famer. (Just make sure I am the one who gets to introduce you :)) And thats no joke

Thanks everyone.
To be perfectly honest, I get many thanks from the membership of these forums, normally when something I say helps someone, I get a thank you and that's appreciated at this end.
My beef at this point is with Yamaha Corp, This message thread over at DTXperience ( http://www.dtxperience.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=8&Board=DTXtremeIII&Number=410362&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1 ) pretty much documents the fact the new Kick pad (KP-125) is having serious problems with premature wear of the rubber playing surface, about half way down, I make my "use a patch" idea and prove it works with 2 pictures attached to that message, I got one thank you from Darth Fusion, even Yamahammer (The then USA acoustic and eDrum manager for Yamaha USA) mentioned he might try and get Yamaha Japan to include a patch with new kick pads but no acknowledgment of the idea itself or a thank you. The patch is a temporary fix to their problem until they can find a better playing surface for this pad but my idea bought them time, how much money did my $2.50 patch idea save the big corporation by not having to replace everyone's KP-125 once a month due to wear?
I guess I was stupid thinking that deserved a official "Thank You" from corporate Yamaha, didn't want a gratuity, just a thank you acknowledging that some of us end users can sometimes come up with valid solutions that the design team in Japan didn't.
As for the hall of fame, I think it would be a full house in there, so many of us drummer types seem to go out of our way to make the edrum community a kinda cool place to be, we all do so in our own way, so the hall of fame would be a pretty busy place I think! :)
Wes, I do what I do for the end user, so do you, so does Alvis and many others, I guess we could say, it's what we do! LOL :)
Sal, I looked over at Debbie, the get a room idea is freaking great, days off after tonight, getting a room is a possibility........ YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!! ;)
Take care
