Here are a couple of short audio clips I recorded using the new OceanWay kit that is downloadable at DTXperience.com....there are still a few bugs that need to be ironed out...mainly, I believe a firmware update from Yamaha..that is hopefully coming soon...anyway have a listen and let me now what you think...not playing anything terribly hard...just recorded it to hear the kit sounds..:)

Nice recordings, Scott. I like the samples and velocities of the kit. It has some glitches though. Crash 2 will cut out at times and I thought I heard some cut outs in your second recording too. I said it before the III was released and I say it again now, They should have given us 128 note polyphony. I know they had the ability because they gave the newer motif synths 128 note poly. It`s like they said we have a car that can go 200 mph but the engine will only let it go 100 mph. What good does that do us? That's why they had to borrow notes from the songs to make this kit even this good. It has the same AWM2 64 note tone generator as the IIs and they can't change that with a software update. Well, sorry for the rant but that's the one disapointment I had with the III to start with and I still have it. Maybe i'm the only one who feels that way or i'm just full of it. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing what their master programmer comes up with. Alvis

I hear ya Alvis.....I'm hoping that the firmware update will correct the cut outs and allow multi layered kits with no problems....we'll just have to wait and see....

Those will be some great kits for sure once they work the bugs out. They did steal the notes from our extra inputs so I can only play it as 6 piece though. There I go again. Hahaha

Look on the bright side though Alvis....the user kits we've been able to create....are to my ears some of the best sounding e-kits out there....and there's no problems with having big kits with them or any cut outs....I do think though that yamaha will get this cutout problem (w/mutli layered kits) fixed with a firmware update...we'll just have to wait and see...:)....until then enjoy the user kits and get working on that US Fusion song!!....hahaha

I'm still working on it, have 3 parts of the song figured out, that 4th has me totally stumped, been at it for 2 weeks now, I may just butcher the 4th part and say screw it! LOL :D
Take care

Hi Wes.....
I still can't figure that 4th part out, just finished trying, walked away totally disgusted and said to Debbie..... "That song blows donkey balls at 3 AM" just for your information, that is a lot worst than "blowing dead goats at midnight". LOL :)
Take care

Damn Jack! That morning watch shift is given you way too much time to think up these sayings - hahahaha. Free form the 4th and forget trying to figure the timing out. However, I'm sure one of you guys will figure it out and it will sound fantastic. Good luck with it. WW

Hi Scott.
I just listened to those two audio clips, the kit sounds great, as Alvis mentioned, too bad Yamaha didn't listen to it's user base when they were fishing for ideas on "what we'd like to see in the next top of the line module" because 128 or even 256 notes of polyphony were at the top of the list from just about everyone. Now if companies like Ocean Way decide to drop making kits for the Xtreme III due to the 64 notes of poly limitation, then it'll be Yamaha's fault for NOT listening to what people really want!!!!!
I hope the people at Ocean Way can figure a way of getting around this and make it work for everyone.
Take care

PS: I found that thread on DTXperience... not all mentioned 128 or 256 poly, but enough did.
