I figured I'd start a new thread and add some updated pics I just took today of my layout with the recent add on's that I just did on my Blastech kit over the weekend ( or as Wes has nicknamed it the " Otaconrageous kit " :D )

If this should have been just added to my other posted thread then I can repost it there or this can be moved if needed .

I spent some time over the weekend also re-working the overall layout to fit these new additions in . I think everything turned out really good , now all I have to do is spend some time running the cables again and it's ready to rock !

Thanks for all the kind words so far and I hope you enjoy the pics of my latest configuration of my kit .

It's just a thought Sam. Alvis is actually very good at coming up with the right name for kits - it's just one of many gifts he possess's. hahahaha

That kit just keeps going and going Sam. I'm thinking for additional drums/pads/cymbals....you'll need to go upward. Just amazing. Have you discovered yet how quickly a 10' cable runs out of cable before reaching the module - hahaha. I've actually purchased 12'/15' cables for my kit.

Hi Sam.
Excellent job with your kit, looking real good.
Man, that's a lot of stuff to hit! LOL :)
As Wes mentioned, you gotta be running some pretty long cable at some places! LOL :)
Take care

:D Thanks Phil . I'm really stoked with the way things turned out with it . It was alot of work and buying some longer cables , but it's my little piece of happiness ( well maybe not so little  )

I actually have the makings of 2 other kits too :) ( a ddrum & a Pintech )

Yeah I actually went out this morning and bought some longer cables . I had a feeling that I was gonna have several that wouldn't make the distance . It's amazing how when you start running a longer cable how fast you can run out of it weaving around the drum rack .

Thanks Jack ,

Yeah if I get bored with this kit anytime soon I really should get my head examined . I picked up some 15' and 20' XLR cables this morning for the far side ddrum stuff , and few 15 foot 1/4" cables for the Blastech floors .

I should qualify for a apprentice wiring degree after getting this kit all hooked up ;) .

Hi Wes.
On that Pearl kit, is there any stampings on/in it as to the year it was built?
In 1977, I had bought a brand new Pearl Wood/Fiberglass kit, the finish was gloss black, but the inside of the drums had a white fiberglass, the fiberglass in your Pearls is transparent.
I know my Pearl drums were quite heavy to lift, between the wood and the fiberglass, but man oh man, they sure sounded sweet! :)
Take care

Wow, huge set :) I'd love to check out a ddrum-brain, they are very rare and expensive. I tried to get ddrum 3 turbo brain für the major part of my drum but couldn't get one acceptable priced. Very cool, the pads look noble.

Yeah they can get a bit pricey ( especially the ddrum3 ) pretty much like alot of other premium higher end modules . I'm learning more and more about the ddrum3 module as I dig into it more and wow the technology level that is inside of it for the ERA that it came from is really mind blowing at times . The ddrumSE4 module has alot of great features too and the samples on it are very high quality . I still can't get over the quality of the cymbal samples in particular .

Sam...is one better than the other?....my initial thought would be that the SE4 would be...but from your comments, it sounds like the 3 may be better.:)

Scott ,

I wouldn't really say better but a good bit more expanded of the 2 would be the ddrum3 module . There's alot of advanced features in it that weren't carried on in the ddrum4 modules ( standard & SE versions ) not sure why they did that but I'm thinking to cut the overall retail price down to the consumer for it . I'm not all saying that the ddrum4 module is a stripped down version of the 3 but let's just say it weighs in lighter in the advanced features and sound samples than the ddrum3 does . There's a bit of sampling capabilites and abilities in particular within the ddrum3 that the ddrum4 modules don't have . I'm still learning more things about this module as I explore it more but it's becoming very easy to see why this module is commonly referred to as ddrum's flagship module and why people seem to hang on to them . Hearing the samples in this module first hand by owning one It's just amazing the quality and attention to realistic detail that was involved in putting these samples together for it . I really like the various features in both of the ddrum modules on my kit and they work really well together . They're both offer alot of quality for the money in my book .
