Hi guys, I come here as a 50+ year old noob that has been playing since I was 13. I had a TD-10 kit many years ago, sold it, played acoustic exclusively for years and now my church that I've played at for about 4 years now has decided to go electronic. They bought a Yamaha DTXtreme III Special kit about 2 months ago and I came here seeking answers. I have already answered some things by using the search function but I'll probably have a few more in the coming months. Over all I like the DTXtreme very much. It isn't as intuitive as the Roland kit I had but maybe that's because I only have a couple of hours a week with it rather than being able to spend hours at a time with it at home. The one thing that is taking me longer to figure out is the effects bank. It isn't set up the way I would have liked, but I'm sure I'll get better with it.

So for now, just thanks for being here. See you soon!

Welcome aboard Paul!...hope you like it here....the IIISP is a real nice kit...if you would like I can share some of my user kits with you...I have added some effects to my kits...also there is a power guide downloadable document over on DTXperience.com on how to use the effects in the III module...:)

Hey Scorch, I'd love to try them out. Most of what I am doing since the kit is the church's is the brand of Christian rock that is pretty much pop oriented. I have been using a little of the percussion master kit too in spots. I have to keep it pretty safe due to the setting. I see you're a fellow Georgian, I'm in Peachtree City.
I have been trying to find a good ballad kit with a really fat snare and some slap back but I'll try whatever you have. I haven't been able to get much alone time w1ith the kit since it's in the church.

Hi Arriguy and welcome to this place.
Give yourself time with the DTXtreme III module, it has tons of features and take time to learn your way around to know how to use the features, effects and so on. I would suggest carrying around a USB flashdrive stick with you when going to Church, once you learn how to save and load your custom user kits you may have to use it. With the kit being in a church, chances are others will mess with the kit also and might mess up many of the settings to the point the kit becomes awkward to play, as long as you save "alldata" of the kit the way you had it last, you can do a factory reset and then load the module back to the state it was in the last time you used it. :)
Take care
