Thought I would post a few new pics of the Yamanator since I added a new 12" tom (over to left of snare - 9 RHP pads now..:))....as matter of fact the 10" tom over by the (2) floor toms is looking for an input now!..lol..that may be a good reason for a DTX multi 12 (or another module)..:)...at least that will be selling point to the boss! (i.e., wife)...anyway here's some pics:

Nice Scott. Of course a 2nd DTXIII module would open the door for many more drums :-)

Run that past momma and see what happens - hahaha

Looks great Scott . I always have just loved those wooden Yamaha shells . Still puzzled to this day of why they wouldn't have continued production of those . Very classy indeed man .

Scott,
The set looks great... I love the natural finish on the pads. That why I have picked a clear gloss finish on maple shells . Got a few photos of the first production of the new acoulike pads I'm making.

Thanks everyone for the comments!...and Dauz, your pads look really cool!...what type trigger system do they use?

Hey Scott,
Im playing with a couple of configurations of dual piezo . The surface has a resonator plate . Have been getting a great response out of Alesis trigger IO . Still need to test a few other modules. I will post some internal pictures soon...

Nice looking kit Scott! It makes you wonder why Yamaha stopped making those great looking RHP drums.

Your new acoulike pads look great Dan. I like those cymbals as well. They look like a steering wheel with a Dauz pad mounted in the middle, and of course they have that really cool swivel mount that most of your Dauz pads have.

Thanks Phil,
Im pretty happy how its coming so far... The Cymbal pads are pretty cool... Not a cymbal but a very cool way to trigger 2 sounds on a ride type trigger...

Wow, nice set, I love Yamaha :) The RHP-pads are quite rare. I own a few RHPs, too, but only 2 kickpads are in the actual set.

Are you using a DTXIII for triggering? I'd like to know which setting(s) you use. My kicks are connected via y-splitter to input 10/11 but the gain on input 10 is very low in camparison to input 11 (pad type is set to KP125 on both).

Yes...I use the III module for triggering....I created my own trigger settings for the RHP's; use loud1 for the kick with a gain of 25; use hard1 for the toms/snare, gain set @ 20, I believe....although gain setting could be a little lower (I'll have to check on that)..changed velocity settings also:)...thanks for the compliment!....BTW...I now have 2 RHP kicks also...I'm gonna have to load some pics soon of the new kit configuration:)

Just beautiful bro. Yamaha was crazy to stop there production!! Especially since they make drums you would have thought they would continue with there new silicone surface!! IMO Dumb if you ask me...

Well...here are some new pics of kit going back up!...I may still do some rack shifting...pondering it as I write:)....definitely like having more rack space...I'm also thinking about going to a cable hihat...since I can then place the hihat pad pretty much where I want it....anyway here's some pics...let me know what you think....

Here's the rack setup
http://edrumforum.com/picture.php?albumid=36&pictureid=393

Kicks in place:)...you'll notice I'm also able to mount satellite speakers on rack now

Setup w/o cables

During this teardown I was also able to get everything cleaned as well...:)...Hopefully I'll get the cables hooked up within a couple days (max)...still have one more single pedal to get and a couple of new mesh heads....

Looks like your kit was built around the PCY-10 and not the double kicks - hahahahahaha

It will be interesting to hear how your playing evolves with double kicks in the mix.

Wow looking great Scott ! I like the layout of the rack on this . I really dig the double kick set-up , and also really cool to see the satellites mounted up . One of these days I have to try one of those PCY-10 triggers out . Very practical design that looks like it would be fun to add to my kit ( of course a switch out would be in order to do so ) .

Thanks guys for all the comments!...hopefully I'll have it completely finished and plugged in soon...looks like it may be a little time before I can get the second kick up and running...FP-9500D direct drive pedals are back ordered at M123:(...may have to look around some...gonna try and tackle the cable routing and hookups tomorrow night:)...Pink Led Rush...I understand what your saying...I'm also torn between which Yamanator version I like best...I really like single kick kits..that being said I really like having my satellite speakers mounted on the rack and the tom and kick (double) placement on the "new" Yamanator is actually a little better..so I guess time will tell with me:)

Yeah, I think I like double pedals a little better and it's much easier to switch to the hh really quick for those songs in which it is required, but both can be done. I agree the double kick kit does look better, but I'd much rather have an extra cymbal than a double kick. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love your kit as my previous post says, it's just on ekits every input counts. lol

The thing I like about two physical kicks is being able to detune one of the kick so you can have each kick sound just a little different which can sound way cool when playing.
I did that when I had my monster kit, but I had it setup where I could use same sound on a double pedal to one kick or using the left pedal to the main kick and have a kick to the right and a single pedal on it having that detuned sound, it was a neat arrangement and worked well! :)
Scott could still do this by placing the left pedal of a double pedal just on the inside of the single pedal of the left kick, this way he get the best of both worlds. :)

Or just have a double pedal on both sort of like Bozzio's setup.

Yeah, that could work, although I hate having my pedals at an angle. There is an option of setting one drum as maybe a 20 and the other a 24 or 22.

Working on lining up my 2nd. kick addition to the B' kit this year .

Real nice work on the cable management too , the set-up looks very clean and uncluttered which is a hard accomplishment with larger kits .
