Here's some pics of what I've been up to, my little diy kit I've been working on. 14" kick, 10" rack tom, 12' floor tom, the donor drums are Mapex toms 14x7 12x6 10x5 with a stain and lacquer finish of some type, a very nice wood grain look. I don't know much about finishing timber. The snare is a 13" pdp tom I cut down to 13x4 and the last pic shows the triggering setup, pretty basic but works well enough. There is some room for improvement in the rim response, particularly with the cross stick on the snare but that is always a compromise. I'm generally very happy with the look and how they play, of course any suggestions from seasoned builders on improvements would be greatly appreciated.
I forgot to mention that's my beautiful granddaughter trying them out...
