Can anyone suggest how to get the rhh135 hi hat to function properly? I am getting multiple signals at times. Can't get the "open" sound and then 2 minutes later can't get the "closed" sound. It's like this thing has a mind of it's own. Any suggestions would be greatly apprecitated. Thanks again.

Hi Joeb and welcome to this place.
First, check to make sure the bottom part of the RHH-135 (the part that sits where a real bottom hihat cymbal would sit), make sure there is not a felt washer between the plate of the hihat stand and that bottom part of the RHH-135. A felt washer would cause the size of the opening of the cymbal part to be inconsistent.
Next check to make sure you have enough of a gap between the bottom part and the cymbal part, mine has a 1/4 gap when my foot is off the pedal, make sure to leave that gap when not in use also.
Make sure the cables plugged all the way into their jacks and also make sure the controller output is plugged in the the HH CTRL input on the module and the HH pad is plugged into the HH input of the module.
The rest would be module based, I take it you are using a DTXtreme III module?
Maybe by accident, you changed a setting which affected the hihat's performance, if you have user kits already programmed into your module, then maybe save those to a USB flashdrive and do a factory reset, that should cure the problem.
If that doesn't cure the problem, then you should try calling Yamaha tech support, possibly you might have a defective RHH-135 and can get a replacement unit sent to you, Yamaha is normally pretty good this way.
Good luck and I hope you get the problem resolved soon.
Take care
