Hi guys, I have a couple of stupid questions that will probably be a simple thing I'm doing wrong. I have looked in the manual and can't find an explanation so I'll ask here.

The DTXtreme 3 that I use is at our church so the time I have to learn and experiment is limited. While trying to create some kits that would serve my purposes I ran across two odd things. I was trying to create a kit based on the PercMaster kit but with a kick and snare that matched the kit I use most often, the Maple Custom kit. When changing the kick it would not change, I dialed in the maple kick but no matter what I dialed up the kick never changed sounds. It said maple but was the same sound as the PercMaster kick. Any ideas?

2nd question ... when creating kits I would occasionally create a kit with percussion voices on the tom pads. At times the Perc2 voice set seemed to be unavailable. Perc 1 would be there but no matter what I did perc2 didn't show up on the screen. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks,
Paul

When editing or changing voices, look on the screen, if it shows "Input" try changing that to "Source" and you'll have the individual voices appear.
The difference between input and source is....
Input... you are changing the whole input of the pad you are working on, since the Xtreme III has mostly all 3 zone inputs, it will show only one thing but will change the bow, edge and bell of a cymbal selected and all 3 zones will match the sound of that cymbal.

Source let's you change each zone separately, thus you'll see all the voices in the module this way, in example, you can put a tambourine on the bell, a ride on the bow and a china on the edge of a cymbal. I'm using a cymbal for explanation sake, but this can be done on any pad.

Also, make sure you are working on a User (USR) kit and not a factory Preset (PRE) kit, you can save a user kit, but any changes done to a preset kit will be lost when you change kits or power down.
Good luck and take care

Hi Arriguy, Jack covered it about using the SF5 button to switch between input and source. You have to select source to see the percussion 2 voices. You're right about not being able to change voice on the PercsMaster kit. It's because that kit has 2 notes assigned to it from the factory at different velocities. The module just don't know which one you want to change. There are a few ways to fix it the way you want but this is probably easiest. Press the F3 stk/alt button, highlight the first step "001" note C 1, press SF3 Delete to delete that step. Then page right to page 2 and set the velodity limit 127 to give you the full veocity range. You should then be able to assign your bass drum to note B 0 and store the kit. Or you could start with an empty user kit and assign all the voices from scratch. Happy drumming, Alvis
