What would be the advantage, if any, of a 15" 3 zone cymbal over a 13"? I am looking for a round ride and I'll use the two pie shaped cymbals as crashes.

I am a noob so...................

My kit is Yamaha DTXpress III

I can't think of any advantage a 15" cymbal has over a 13" cymbal, other then how it looks on your kit to you. WW

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum CG. You were a regular at DrumChat? I posted a few in the electronic forum over there.

Does size really matter ??? Depends on the space you have to fill !

First of all, Welcome to EDF. I like the 15" for the ride because i need bigger targets to aim at. That is the only advantage to me, i love using my ride cymbal alot and I think the bell is a tad bit bigger. Tom

Thanks, that about covers it. The biggest advantage for me would be the bigger bell, just not sure yet whether I "value" the bigger bell as much as the folks selling it!

Also the weight of the larger cymbal itself might have better stability for intricate stick work on a ride cymbal if you keep your cymbals fairly loose on the cymbal stand.
Welcome to this place Charly! :)
Take care

Intricate and my noob drumming can not be used in the same sentence! Altho I am most proud that the shuffle was the first thing I learned on drums. From all my years as a bassist and my love of blues, it is just what my hands and feet(not the left foot tho, it was CLUELESS!) did the first time I sat at a kit (1 year ago this month). Not all that good but hey I did it!

Just sold my Renowns for 3 times the price I picked up the DTXpressIII for! And I can now practice any time I want! And it folds up. Never could get the Renowns to do THAT! The even better news for me is I don't like the sound and feel of V-drums. So I am content with these Yamahas, prolly upgrade the snare, add a ride, and maybe upgrade the module again, but no GAS for Roland.

No, I'm not excited...........HA!
