i just recently purchased a dtxtreme 3 special. its all hooked up and sounding great except for the bass drum is awfully quiet. i have made my own set and adjusted the volume of the bass drum higher than everything else but its still quieter than it should be. i can hardly hear it. anyone have any advice or had the same problem?
thanks

Have you checked the volume control (gain) on the front off the bass drum?...sometimes this switch is turned all or most of the way down...make sure it's turned all the way up..:)....and I am assuming that you turned up the volume in the module settings...F2 -> SF2.

Hi ete123.
At the front of the KP-125, there are two 1/4 inch inputs, in the middle, there's a recessed dial that can be turned, turn that all the way clockwise. I'm including a picture of the front of the KP-125 with an arrow pointing to the pad's gain control knob.
Once you have that dial turned up all the way, you can also try this.......

Press the "Trigger" button on the module, strike the kick drum to choose it, now press the F5 button (Sens), move your cursor to "Gain" and using the jog wheel, up that number, I have 63 for gain, then move the cursor to the "Curve" and try changing that value to "Loud1".
This should really help get some volume from your KP-125.
Take care

Hi Scott......
Yeah, but you don't have a KP-125, the KP-125 is not very sensitive , at least not with the DTXtreme III module (if I remember the default gain setting for the III's kick input is 32). I wish I would have tried a KP-65 with the III to see if it does the same, my guess is it's the KP-125 which isn't overly sensitive unless you up the heck out of the gain with it.....
Alvis, can you confirm this by trying out the KP-125 on the IIs?
Take care

I knew there must be an up-side to hanging on to my IIs. haha. I just tried my kp-125 on the IIs and it works fine with the factory settings. However my kp-125 is no longer stock. I took it apart and changed the padding inside last year due to the double triggering issue I had. I also put a few layers of tape between the head and the piezo to make it more sensitive. I know the kp-125 is less sensitve than the kp-65 though. It's because the 125 has the piezo at the top of the pad instead of the center like the 65. You can tap the top of the 125 head with a stick and hear the volume difference from the center. IMO the factory settings don't compensate for that so we have to up the gain etc. ourselves. I use SP Normal for my trigger foundation, kick gain 30 and the Loud2 curve for the kick. I also run it through a mixer so I can up the volume as much I need to. Without the mixer a gain in the 60's might be required like Jack said.
