Upcoming Contests

It is time to begin our contests. I have secured prizes for our contests and would like some input from our members about what kinds of contests they would most like to participate in. I would like to gather some ideas and then poll the members as to their favorites.

I would like to have monthly contests with prizes. The prizes for the contests are- DVD concerts, Drum Books and Videos, EDF Mugs, EDF T Shirts.

A separate yearly contest with a grand prize - E Drum giveaway, Knipe Custom DIY Shell Pack, Knipe Custom Acoustic Snare.

The contests will be open to contributing members.
Some contests will be based on skill and creativity judged by the Moderators or myself at EDF. The other contests will be by chance. So when suggesting contests please keep these in mind as I want as many members to participate as possible.

Here are some ideas I like:

1) Best drum Video -
2) Best Tutorial Video -
3) best Written Tutorial -
4) Most helpful EDF Ambassador - We have many members that are knowledgeable and help so many people. They have turned down Moderator status but are always continueing to help others no matter what. Ron and I will go through the membership and name our EDF Ambassadors, they will have special priviledges as well as a special status. There is no limit to how many ambassadors we may name and I want everyone to know who the special members are who give of themselves to help out every day.

7) Best looking DIY Kit -
8) Most innovative DIY idea
9) Best idea to improve EDF -
10) Best Post - Month
11) Best Post - Year
12) Monthly Video contest
13) Best DIY idea of the year -
14) Drum Giveaway - A diy project with donated parts to give to a drummer in need. This is more of a sitewide project but i will nominate someone who participates for a prize or a Grand Prize. * This is not up for debate rather a project for EDF and hopefully members will participate.
15) Best product review -
16) Best EDF Ambassador -

I inclined to use most of mine but I want to see what everyone else comes up with. I want to schedule them and get moving. :) I have no interest in dragging the decision making process out as it takes all the fun out of it. :eek:

Here are my opinion on your ideas.........

1) Best drum Video - (No prize but special recognition)
2) Best Tutorial Video - (small prize)
3) best Written Tutorial - (small prize)

(this idea is up to you, most of the people that help a lot know who they are and the others that do the same)

6) Best drum Jam - (not sure I understand this one, if it's best self recorded drum solo, then special recognition maybe a small prize, mug, t-shirt)

8) Most innovative DIY idea - (for the month/year? Special recognition and maybe a small prize)
9) Best idea to improve EDF - (again, what time frame? Special recognition and maybe a small prize)
10) Best Post - Month - (you'd have to set a guideline for what to consider the best post, small prize)
11) Best Post - Year - (same as number 10)
12) Monthly Video contest - (what kind of video?)
13) Best DIY idea of the year - (a small prize)

You don't want to go overboard with this either Tom, prizes cost money, we already appreciate you footing the bill for the hosting service for this forum, so not much else needs to be done. The membership here like this place and with good reason, it's a great place to hang out and that should be all the thanks or prize we really need, don't forget, this is a FREE service you offer, forums just don't appear out of nowehere, much work is done behind the scenes by you and Ron, and with you footing the bill, well, as far as I'm concerned, that's prize enough for me! :)

I thought of one:

Best bass drum Band logo contest. (prize would be a picture of your bass drum on the home page for one month)

I figure some of the acoustic drummers might like this one too!

Also Tom, I think you can combine 1,2, & 12. I don't know, I could see them separated too.
