I'm not really upset, I should look into changing my name.
I started playing fifteen years ago on a seventies ludwig rocker kit that was left at my place after a wicked house party, (taxed). I was given a yamaha studio kit soon after that (merci beaucoup).
I have been sick for a very long time so a band is and was out of the question.
I lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere, so I could play at any hour, but have since bought a house in a small town. After a failed attempt to soundproof a room on the cheap, I broke down and bought a yamaha dtxplorer edrum kit. In hindsight, I should have spent a little more, c'est la vie. I didn't realize at the time how much fun they would be, in fact, I was very hesitant in purchasing them.
Im a woodworker by trade, and I love snow.
I really enjoy looking at other peoples setups, especially the shelled kits, some of you are so creative. Its a pleasure being here, and I hope to learn a lot, I have a lot to learn.

Heh...decided on that username in haste, eh? ;)
Welcome to the forum.
I can understand your frustration with the MIDI stuff. Years back when I first got into some of this stuff, I got thoroughly confused by trying to understand the whole mapping issue, to the point that I gave up on it completely. I'm in the process of giving it, and myself, another chance now that I have this forum as a resource to learn how to do it better.
I honestly don't think you should be too upset with your DTXplorer purchase. Sure, it's an older module, but it's not like it's a piece of junk. Use it as a stepping stone, to learn a little more about edrumming and what you want to do with your edrums, then upgrade later when you know a little more and have a better idea of what you do and don't want/need.
Have fun and I look forward to hearing of your progress.
